Unlike other major networks, we don’t charge extra for EU roaming, up to 25GB. So, when you’re travelling in our Europe Zone, your data, minutes and text allowances will work just like they do at home. That’s not just for summer. It’s all year round.

New research has revealed that the majority of holidaymakers think that their phone is the most important item to take on holiday over bringing sunscreen and sunglasses. Last year also saw a 34% rise in O2 customers using their mobile data while travelling in the EU. When paired with the insight that people in the UK check their smartphone on average every 12 minutes each day, it got us thinking.

What if you could avoid nasty roaming bills without changing your mobile habits while also helping with sun protection while you’re on holiday?

We’ve teamed up with highly rated natural sunscreen brand Green People to mark Skin Cancer Awareness Month. The idea is to encourage the nation to pay as much attention to their sun protection as they do to their phones when roaming in the EU, through the creation of a sunscreen-dispensing phone accessory.

It’s stylish, chic and acts as a reminder to reapply SPF whilst you’re in the sun almost as regularly as you check your phone. Regular sunscreen application is recommended by our friends at the British Skin Foundation, who support O2’s sun safety campaign.

The limited-edition free mobile phone accessory will be available to everyone at selected O2 stores across the country from 15 May 2024, while stocks last, including London, Cardiff, Birmingham, Manchester, Edinburgh and Belfast. All you need to do is head to a participating store and say “don’t get burnt” to a staff member at the till.
