(c) All prices shown include VAT, unless otherwise stated. Prices are correct at the time of publication but are subject to change. Please check our website regularly for details.
1.2 Price changes
(a) We reserve the right to remove, vary or amend any element of these Tariff Terms. Please refer to the Pay as You Go Service Terms for more details on our rights to vary and (if applicable) your rights to cancel.
(b) Prices, including your paid for allowances, free allowances based on your top up or based on your time with us, Out-of-Bundle prices, and / or the manner in which they are charged, may change and, subject to clause 12 of the Pay as You Go Service Terms, we reserve the right to increase or decrease these elements and the Charges at any time by any amount. We'll post details of Charges on our website and, for those Charges that we provide with a recurring subscription, we'll let you know at least 7 days before the Charges are due to go up.
(c) If you do not accept the new Charges you are able to simply stop using the services (see clauses 8 and 12 of our Pay as You Go Service Terms for further details) but there will be no refund for unused credit (be that unused allowances or top up), except in limited circumstances e.g. where you switch providers using a PAC or STAC code, you will be entitled to a refund of unused credit. If you continue to use the services you accept the new Charges.
1.3 Managing your tariff and allowances
(a) You can switch to another Pay As You Go tariff on the My O2 app, by visiting o2.co.uk/Myo2 or calling O2 Customer Services on 2202.
(b) If you change tariffs you may lose any inclusive minutes, messages, data and/or promotional allowances you currently have.
(c) You may not be able to switch tariffs more than once a month. If you switch to a tariff that includes an Inclusive Monthly Allowance from another tariff, you won't receive your new allowance until your next tariff monthly renewal date.
(d) When you move tariff you may have to accept additional tariff terms for that tariff at the time you move and they could be different to these ones. Make sure you check the promotional material and our website before you change your tariff. If you move tariff you may not be able to change back to your previous tariff.
(e) If you switch to certain tariffs you will lose any non-transferable Bolt Ons which we may not be able to restore even if you later leave the tariff. Please check before switching tariffs.
(f) By switching tariffs, you’re agreeing to replace your previous tariff and any unused allowances or previous tariff benefits and rates will be lost and won’t rollover to your new tariff. You can only have one tariff active on a SIM at any time.
(g) If you're using a device that we haven't supplied please check to see if it is latched/locked to another network before you try to use it with one of our SIM cards. You can find information on unlocking devices on our website.
(h) If you’re on a tariff that includes an allowance of minutes, texts and data, which may include minutes, texts and data which are stated to be free of charge, in exchange for a regular monthly payment or a regular monthly top up (an “Inclusive Monthly Allowance”), unless stated otherwise in the specific tariff terms, the Inclusive Monthly Allowance won’t be carried from one month to the next. Your Inclusive Monthly Allowance will be valid up until 11:59pm on the monthly renewal date, which will be one calendar month after we deduct the first month’s payment from your balance.
(i) On some tariffs, 'unlimited' allowances or other promotions and offers will only be available for a limited time. Please see the relevant offer or promotional terms.
(j) If you are a new O2 Pay As You Go customer, you will need to top up a minimum of £10 to activate your chosen tariff. For certain tariffs and Bolt Ons, you will need to top up a certain amount in order to receive your exchange of minutes, texts and data. You will need to have sufficient top up to purchase a Bolt On. Please check the details of our tariffs and Bolt Ons for the required top up amounts.
(k) There are lots of ways to top up. For details, see o2.co.uk/topup
1.4 Using our services
(a) You need network coverage to be able to use our services. 4G is only available in selected areas. Predicted network coverage can be found here.
(b) You may not use our service(s) for any number ranges which we reasonably believe are being used for call forwarding services, concurrent calling, paging services, onward calling services or numbers that pay a revenue share.
(c) You must not use your SIM card in or connected to any other device, or in a way that that adversely impacts the service to other O2 customers. If we reasonably believe your use doesn't comply with this, we reserve the right to:
i. impose further charges;
ii. disconnect your SIM or tariff at any time - we may contact you before doing this;
iii. remove inclusive monthly allowances from your account; and / or
iv. impose network protection controls to protect our network from types of data usage which we think might impact on service at specific times of day and/or locations; this may reduce your speed adversely.
(d) Your tariff usage is subject to our Fair Usage Policy (outlined in clause 2.11 of these Tariff Terms and clause 2.18 of the Pay As You Go Service Terms) at all times. This also means that your usage must be for private and personal purposes and that of a legitimate consumer. You may not use your SIM card:
i. in, or connected to, any device other than the one which it was supplied with or the type intended by us for use with (for example our Pay As You Go SIM cards are intended for use in a mobile phone not a modem); and / or
ii. in such a way that we reasonably believe adversely impacts our Network or the service to our other customers
1.5 Topping up and other services
(a) For tariffs that require a regular monthly payment in exchange for an Inclusive Monthly Allowance, we will deduct payment from your credit balance. We will attempt to deduct payment from your balance every month on your monthly renewal date and if successful, you will receive your new Inclusive Monthly Allowance. If you do not have enough credit your Inclusive Monthly Allowance will not be renewed. When you next top up sufficient credit, we will deduct payment from your credit balance and you will receive your Inclusive Monthly Allowance and your monthly renewal date will be reset to start from this new date.
(b) For tariffs or Bolt Ons that require a regular top up (which is usually a monthly top up) in exchange for an Inclusive Monthly Allowance, we will check your previous top ups on your tariff or Bolt On renewal date and if sufficient, you will receive your new Inclusive Monthly Allowance. If you have not topped up enough at your renewal date your Inclusive Monthly Allowance will not be renewed. Every time you then top up we will recalculate your previous top ups and, if sufficient, you will receive your Inclusive Monthly Allowance and your renewal date will be reset from this new date.
(c) If you don’t have enough credit for us to deduct payment for the tariff you’ve selected or have not topped up sufficiently in the previous month, you’ll be charged at standard tariff rates, which can be found on My O2 or o2.co.uk/terms.
(d) For tariffs that do not offer an Inclusive Monthly Allowance your credit balance will reduce based on usage, at the standard tariff rates.
(e) Many O2 products and services require registration and/or verification by text message, so devices that cannot send or receive text messages may not be able to register or use those services. Please check the relevant scheme terms or device specifications for more information.
(f) Your information will be treated in accordance with O2's privacy policy which can be found here
(g) All Pay As You Go customers are encouraged to register their details, including a valid current email address and any other information that we reasonably request from you to maintain your account and you must ensure that this information is valid, up-to-date and accurate.
(h) You must tell us immediately if you become aware of any improper disclosure of your security information or unauthorised use of the services through your account.
(i) If you’ve got a Blackberry device which is running the OS BB7.1 and below, you’ll only need to buy a Bolt On to use your BlackBerry services in the UK. You can view all Bolt On options at o2.co.uk/myo2.
(j) In the event that a tariff and a Bolt On both have the same monthly renewal date and you have insufficient credit to renewal both, we cannot guarantee which one will be renewed and which one will need a further top up before it renews.
2. Call Charges
2.1 Subject to these Tariff Terms, minutes in an Inclusive Monthly Allowance are counted by the minute not by the second and will be rounded up to the nearest minute. Calls may include video calls, voicemail, depending on your tariff. Calls made outside your Inclusive Monthly Allowance to landline and mobiles are charged by the minute, not by the second, and will be rounded up to the nearest minute. Each call charge is then rounded up to the next whole penny.
2.2. When you’re in the UK, and unless we’ve said otherwise or you’re on a tariff that only includes O2 to O2 calls, minutes in your Inclusive Monthly Allowance can be used for calls from your O2 mobile to:
(a) UK landlines;
(b) Jersey, Guernsey and Isle of Man landlines;
(c) numbers allocated to mobile network operators that provide mobile services with substantial national coverage in the UK; and
(d) for some, but not all, tariffs it will also include calls to voicemail, including access to voicemail menus and voicemail retrieval.
2.3 When you’re travelling in our Europe Zone (excluding UK), and unless we’ve said otherwise or you’re on a tariff that only includes O2 to O2 calls, your Inclusive Monthly Allowance can be used for calls made in our Europe Zone from your O2 mobile to:
(a) Landlines in our Europe Zone;
(b) Jersey, Guernsey and Isle of Man landlines;
(c) numbers allocated to mobile network operators that provide mobile services with substantial national coverage in our Europe Zone;
(d) for some, but not all, tariffs it will also include calls to voicemail, including access to voicemail menus and voicemail retrieval;
(e) O2 may exclude minutes from your Inclusive Monthly Allowance any calls which we reasonably believe are being used for call forwarding services, onward calling services or numbers that pay a revenue share; and
(f) if you have a Bolt On which includes a minutes allowance, your inclusive minutes allowance will be used first followed by your Bolt On minutes allowance, unless we tell you otherwise.
2.4 Your inclusive minutes allowance cannot be used for calls made in our Europe Zone to certain number types listed on our website, see our Special Numbers page. Please check the page regularly as new number ranges may be added to this page and we will update it from time to time. Number types listed on this page and which do not form part of your Inclusive Monthly Allowance, include but are not limited to:
(a) Calls to 08, 05 and 07 service numbers. Charges for calls to these numbers can be viewed at o2.co.uk/servicenumbers
(b) Calls to premium rate and directory enquiries numbers. Charges for calls to these numbers can be viewed at o2.co.uk/premium
(c) Any calls made whilst abroad, including whilst in Jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of Man, will be charged at standard roaming rates, which can be viewed at o2.co.uk/abroad
(d) Any calls made from the UK to an international destination, or any calls made from our Europe Zone (excluding the UK) to a destination outside of our Europe Zone, which includes Jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of Man mobiles, will be charged at standard international rates, which can be viewed at o2.co.uk/international
2.5 Once you've used all the minutes from your Inclusive Monthly Allowance and any Bolt On minutes allowance you may have, any calls made in our Europe Zone (which includes the UK) to numbers which would previously have been included will be charged at the standard tariff rate. Your minimum charge per call will be at the rate charged for a full minute. And in some cases your call charges will be rounded up to the nearest whole minute.
2.6 We may impose a maximum call duration limit on the calls that you make.
2.7 The destinations/countries covered by our Europe Zone may change from time to time and for Pay As You Go they explicitly do not include Guernsey, Isle of Man, Jersey, Monaco, and Switzerland. Please see www.o2.co.uk/help/pay-monthly/roaming-in-europe for details of what destinations/countries are included in our Europe Zone.
2.8 You may only use our services in our Europe Zone (excluding the UK) for periodic travel, like holidays or short breaks. If you’re not genuinely using our services for periodic travel we may have to charge you for using our services in our Europe Zone (excluding the UK).
2.9 Accidental roaming (sometimes known as inadvertent roaming) might occur if you are in an area close to national borders because your phone picks up the network across the border. If this happens, you may be charged as though you were roaming on the network across the border. You can prevent this if you live near a national border by setting your handset to do a manual network selection (as opposed to an automatic network selection) and select the 'O2' network. This way if you lose the 'O2' network your handset will not automatically try to connect you to an alternate network. For advice, please visit your nearest O2 store.
2.10 For some, but not all, Pay As You Go tariffs, calls to voicemail (including access to voicemail menus and voicemail retrieval) are taken from your inclusive allowance. Once you've used your inclusive allowance, or if calls to voicemail aren’t included, calls to voicemail will be charged at your standard tariff rate.
2.11 All use of our services will be subject to our Fair Usage Policy see o2.co.uk/termsandconditions/mobile/o2-consumer-fair-usage-policy. We may suspend or terminate your access to our services in the event that you breach our Fair Usage Policy.
3. Text Message Charges
3.1 Subject to these Tariff Terms, and unless we’ve said otherwise or you’re on a tariff that only includes O2 to O2 texts, SMS included in your Inclusive Monthly Allowance can be used for texts (meaning individual SMS) sent in the UK to numbers allocated to mobile network operators that provide mobile services with substantial national coverage in the UK or for texts sent whilst in our Europe Zone (excluding the UK) to numbers allocated to mobile network operators that provide mobile services with substantial national coverage in our Europe Zone.
3.2 You may not be able to use your Inclusive Monthly Allowance texts if you are using a device or tablet that cannot send or receive standard network text messages, so please check device specifications before buying. Text messages sent to multiple recipients, or very long texts messages may be classed as MMS or use a data allowance depending on device functionality.
3.3 O2 may exclude from your Inclusive Monthly Allowance any texts sent to any number ranges which O2 reasonably believes are being used for call forwarding services, onward calling services or numbers that pay a revenue share.
3.4 If you have a Bolt On which includes a texts allowance, your texts in your Inclusive Monthly Allowance will be used first followed by your Bolt On texts allowance.
3.5 Once you've used all your Inclusive Monthly Allowance texts and any Bolt On texts allowance you may have, any texts sent from the UK to mobiles in the UK or any texts sent from our Europe Zone (excluding the UK) to mobiles in our Europe Zone will be charged at the standard tariff rate.
3.6 Inclusive Monthly Allowance texts can't be used for:
(a) Texts sent to 08, 05 and 07 service numbers. Charges for texts to these numbers can be viewed at o2.co.uk/servicenumbers
(b) Texts sent to premium rate numbers. Charges for texts to these numbers can be viewed at o2.co.uk/premium
(c) Any texts sent whilst outside of our Europe Zone will be charged at standard roaming rates, which can be viewed at o2.co.uk/abroad
(d) Any texts sent from the UK to any international destination, or any texts sent from our Europe Zone (excluding the UK) to a destination outside of our Europe Zone, which includes Jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of Man mobiles will be charged at standard international rates, which can be viewed at o2.co.uk/international
(e) Any chargeable messages you receive.
(f) Picture messages or video messages which are not included in your inclusive texts allowance and are charged at your standard tariff rate
3.7 Once you've used all your Inclusive Monthly Allowance of texts in any month, or if you don't have an inclusive allowance, messages sent in our Europe Zone to numbers of the type that make up your inclusive allowance will be charged at your standard tariff rate.
3.8 Picture, sound or video messages sent to UK mobiles will be charged at your standard tariff rate.
4. Data Charges
4.1 Data can be used for 4G and non-4G data unless we say otherwise.
4.2 For those tariffs that do not offer an Inclusive Monthly Allowance (e.g. the Classic Pay As You Go tariff or a data allowance (e.g. the £5 Big Bundle tariff) data used is calculated when you’ve used 20MB or when a data session ends, whichever happens first. Data sessions can end for a number of reasons, including but not limited to:
(a) switching off your device;
(b) switching off mobile data on your device;
(c) by O2 if a data session has remained open and inactive for 6 hours;
(d) by your device or apps running on your device (e.g. if your emails are set to update every few minutes). The number and frequency of data sessions that can be ended (and therefore charged) depends on which handset, apps and settings you have.
4.3 For Tariffs that do offer data in an Inclusive Monthly Allowance then, subject to these Tariff Terms and, unless expressly stated otherwise, data allowances can only be used:
(a) on devices that are data compatible and enabled;
(b) for private, personal and non-commercial purposes; and
(c) when travelling in our Europe Zone and data is used on O2's Edge / GPRS / 3G/HSPA networks, other mobile networks in our Europe Zone and, for selected packages or where specified, O2's 4G network and where available 4G networks in our Europe Zone.
4.4 Not used.
4.5 Compatible software will also be required to access data services, including O2 Mobile Broadband.
4.6 Once you reach your maximum data allowance, you will be charged unless additional data has been purchased (a Bolt On) or unless your tariff states otherwise.
4.7 Your inclusive data allowance can only be used in our Europe Zone which includes the UK). When using your phone outside of our Europe Zone, data will be charged at standard roaming rates. For details, visit o2.co.uk/abroad
4.8 If you have a Bolt On which includes a data allowance, your inclusive data allowance will be used first followed by your Bolt On data allowance. This does not apply to the Web Daily Bolt On which will always be used before your inclusive data allowance.
4.9 After you've used your inclusive data allowance and any Bolt On data allowance you may have, you'll be charged at standard tariff rates when using data in our Europe Zone (which includes the UK) subject to daily fair usage.
4.10 A day is based on from 00:00 to 23:59 UK time.
4.11You can use O2 UK's 2G (GPRS and Edge), 3G and 4G data networks and other mobile networks’ data networks in our Europe Zone when using your inclusive data allowance.
4.12 To use any of O2's data services, your mobile must be data compatible and enabled for the type of data network you want to access. Access to data services is subject to network coverage.
4.13 All data usage must be for your private, personal and non-commercial purposes.
4.14 Data usage is measured in kilobytes (KB). 1MB = 1024 Kilobytes (KB), 1024 MB = 1 Gigabyte (GB). Please note that your usage may include re-sent data packets and packets added to control the flow of data over the network.
4.15 Your data allowance (where applicable) will be used for data using all our different types of network technology including Edge, GPRS,3G, 4G HSPA and will not differentiate between them unless otherwise stated.
4.16 If you have access to our 4G services, you will be able to access mobile internet data over our 4G network whenever you are using a 4G capable SIM and device in a 4G coverage area. When in our other mobile data network areas (for example Edge/GPRS/3G/HSPA areas) you will still be able to access non-4G data over these networks.
4.17 If you exceed your Inclusive Monthly Allowance without purchasing extra data or if you breach these terms, we reserve the right to:
(a) impose network protection controls which may reduce your speed
(b) remove O2 network access from your account
(c) impose further charges; and / or
(d) disconnect your SIM card at any time, having attempted to contact you first.
4.18 We reserve the right to use appropriate traffic shaping or throttling measures to protect our network from types of data usage which we think might impact on levels of service for other customers. This may happen at specific times of day and/or in specific locations. We may impose network protection controls which may reduce your speed, remove access to your tariff allowances or Bolt Ons, impose further charges to your account, and/or disconnect your SIM card at any time. Information about traffic shaping and throttling can be found in our KFI (Key Facts Indicator) on our website. If we reasonably suspect you're not behaving within this policy, we reserve the right to impose further charges or disconnect your SIM card or your tariff at any time, having attempted to contact you first.
5. Pay As You Go Bolt Ons
5.1 Bolt Ons taken separately from your tariff are subject to availability. Not all Pay As You Go Tariffs are compatible with all Bolt Ons. Please check promotional material and respective Bolt On terms before purchasing. We reserve the right to withdraw or amend Bolt Ons and/or the terms on which they are offered to you at any time as set out in your Pay As You Go Service Terms and the terms for those Bolt Ons. They are additional services (as referred to in your Pay As You Go Service Terms).
5.2 Unless otherwise stated, and subject to clause 8 (Right to Cancel) of the Pay As You Go Service Terms, you have to give us 30 days' notice if you want to cancel your Bolt On or Bolt Ons by calling Customer Services. Please check the terms and conditions of the Bolt On service you have taken for more information.
5.3 The Data Bolt On for smartphones or tablets will allow you use of our data network via your device (internet capable devices only). The relevant Bolt On includes a specified monthly data allowance.
5.4 Any Bolt On inclusive allowances will be taken before your standard Pay As You Go tariff inclusive minutes, messages and/or data, if applicable.
5.5 If the Distance Selling Regulations apply once your Bolt On is activated and therefore the service has started, you agree that you will not be able to cancel under the cooling-off period in the Regulations. Your statutory rights are unaffected.
6. Tariffs no longer on sale (“Legacy Tariffs”)
6.1 If you’re on a Legacy Tariff that is no longer available to buy or switch to, these Tariff Terms also apply to you. Whilst the Legacy Tariffs are not in general available to buy or switch to, a small number of customers may acquire and activate a Legacy Tariff SIM via our indirect channels. These customers will remain on the tariff until further notice. If you switch away from a Legacy Tariff you will not be able to return to the tariff at a later date. 7. 4G Services
7.1 By using the 4G services you are agreeing to be bound by these Terms and Conditions and, subject to clause 12 of the Pay As You Go Service Terms, in the event we notify you of a change to these terms in accordance with the Pay As You Go Service Terms you confirm that you're happy to accept and abide by these updated Term and Conditions.

7.4 Our speed caps are variable and we reserve the right to implement 4G speed caps in future. Please refer to the Pay As You Go Service Terms for more details on our rights to vary and (if applicable) your rights to cancel. Any details will be listed on our website.
7.5 Our 4G services may be affected by the number of people using the 4G service, maintenance and upgrades, faults from other networks, the weather, other environmental factors or degradation.
7.6 You should check our coverage checker at o2.co.uk/coveragechecker before signing up to our 4G services. This is an indication and prediction of outdoor coverage, but coverage may vary depending on time and location. Data reception and speeds may not be as good indoors or in a car. Radio-based mobile technologies can also be affected by local factors including buildings, trees and even weather conditions. The coverage checker is a guide and does not guarantee signal coverage. Check for live network updates in affected areas at http://status.o2.co.uk.
7.7 In order to access 4G Services you will need a 4G ready phone, 4G services package, 4G SIM card and you may need to do a software update on your phone if it does not have the software required to access 4G services. You're responsible for ensuring you have inserted your 4G SIM and installing a 4G software update on your phone (if required). You must follow any instructions we send you about accessing our 4G network. Visit o2.co.uk/4g/setup for more details.
7.8. Once you have access to our 4G Services, you will be able to access mobile internet data over our 4G network whenever you are in a 4G coverage area. When in our other mobile data network areas (for example Edge/GPRS/3G/HSPA areas) you will still be able to access non-4G data over these networks as usual.
7.9 Your data allowance (where applicable) will be used for all our different types of mobile data (for example Edge/GPRS/3G/HSPA areas) and will not differentiate between the types of mobile data you are using. The data allowance will not rollover from one month to another unless stated otherwise in the specific tariff terms.
