Connecting to WiFi Extra
Most current phones with an O2 SIM will automatically connect to WiFi Extra. You just need to make sure your software is up to date, your WiFi is switched on, and that (if you’re on Pay As You Go) you’ve topped up in the last 30 days.
If your device hasn’t connected automatically, or you want it to connect more quickly, you can try to connect manually.
iOS devices
Go to Settings – Wi-Fi – and tap on ‘WiFi Extra’.
Android Devices
Go to Settings – Connections – Wi-Fi – and tap on ‘WiFi Extra’.
This may vary slightly depending on the device you’re using.
If you’re device still isn’t connecting to WiFi Extra, it may be incompatible.
Connecting to O2 WiFi hotspots
Whilst above ground, visit one of the thousands of O2 WiFi hotspots around the country. They can be found in O2 Stores, McDonalds, Costa coffee and many more places. Find your nearest hotspot.
To connect to the hotspot:
In your device's WiFi settings, select ‘O2 WiFi’.
Open up your web browser, such as Safari or Chrome.
Follow the onscreen steps to register for O2 WiFi.
Once you see the welcome page, you’re connected.
After you’ve connected to O2 WiFi, you’ll be able to use WiFi on the Underground in 24 hours.
If you’re having trouble connecting
While anyone can use O2 WiFi, you must be an O2 mobile customer to use WiFi on the Underground. If you registered for O2 WiFi using a number from another network, then you won't be able to use WiFi on the Underground from O2.
To use WiFi on the Underground, you'll need to make sure your bills are up to date. If you're a Pay As You Go customer, then you'll need to have topped up at least once in the last 30 days. Once you top up, you'll be able to use the service again. Find out how to top up your phone. It can take up to 30 minutes to register your top-up.
If you want to change your registered number, then you'll need to delete your account and register again with your new number. This can be done by signing in to My O2 and clicking ‘Manage O2 WiFi Account’.
